Hey bride to be!

Navigating the bridal world can be overwhelming, there are parts of a wedding you did not even realise you needed to plan, prices you were not expecting, and new lingo you have never heard of before!

Now the time has come for your finishing touches and choosing your veil can be another obstacle but we are here to help and make it super simple. In this blog we will break down the lingo and help you choose the perfect veil for your bridal look.

What are the different veils lengths?

Here at Veil Now there are 7 lengths to choose from. The length of a veil is measured from the comb to the edge of the tulle. Let's explain the meaning behind the length names and help you choose which veil is perfect for you.

Elbow

Elbow length is the shortest veil length. Once the veil has been placed at the crown of your head, the tulle will fall approximately to the point of your elbow. This style of veil is perfect for short dresses, if you prefer a more simple and discrete veil look or even for any parties before the big day! Check out our Ariana veil for the perfect elbow length veil.

Waist

Waist length is the perfect barely there veil. Once the veil has been placed at the crown of your head, the tulle will fall approximately to your waist. There is only one day you can wear this special accessory but if you unsure if the dramatic veil style if right for you, this length may be perfect. Check out our Love veil in waist length to complete the vision.

Fingertip

Fingertip veils are the most common "short" veil.  Once the veil has been placed at the crown of your head, the tulle will fall approximately to your fingertips. A fingertip veil is great to add subtle detail to compliment your bridal look and give your wedding photographs a whimsical feel while keeping the short and sweet look. Fingertip is great for for knee length and long dresses alike. Check out our Ariel veil for a complimenting, pearl veil to pair with your long dress.

Knee/Midi

Knee and Midi length are both in a "mid" length section. They are the perfect addition to a matching length dress, a floor length skirt, or your long dress to add some subtle detailing and dimension whilst not hiding the detail on your gowns train.

Our Knee length veils, once placed at the crown of your head will fall approximately to the back of your knee. Once the Midi veil has been placed at the crown of your head, the tulle will fall approximately between your knee and ankle, alike to a midi dress length. Check out our Rhea and Aurora veils for the perfect knee and midi length veils.

Chapel

Chapel length veils are perfect for long dresses and can compliment existing detail or help to add detail to a simple dress. Check out our Isla veil for the perfect chapel length, pearl veil to add to your look.

We recommend ensuring the veil is ever so slightly longer than your train so if choosing a long veil, the length you choose will depend on the length of your dress. Once the veil has been placed at the crown of your head, the tulle will fall to the floor by approximately 250cm/98".

We recommend trying your dress on and spreading your train as far out at it can sit, use a measuring tape to measure from your head to the end of the train with some slack to allow for veil movement. Please be aware, veils can be shortened if you feel they are too long when they arrive.

Cathedral

Cathedral veils are one of the most popular veil lengths, perfect for a dramatic entrance. Check out our extensive collection of cathedral length veils, like Sofia, in our Shop section.

We recommend ensuring the veil is ever so slightly longer than your train so if choosing a long veil, the length you choose will depend on the length of your dress. Once the veil has been placed at the crown of your head, the tulle will fall to the floor by approximately 300cm/118".

We recommend trying your dress on and spreading your train as far out at it can sit, use a measuring tape to measure from your head to the end of the train with some slack to allow for veil movement. Please be aware, veils can be shortened if you feel they are too long when they arrive.
